Largehearted Boy: Shorties (Best & Worst Music Lists of 2009, Indie Rock Show Etiquette, and more)
Book: And the hippos were boiled in their tank by Kerouac and Burroughs
Borrowing is usually my M.O., thanks to my lack of expendable income. So suddenly owning 25 hard copies of pretty anything would make my shelves oh-so-happy.
Or Human Highway, Mountain Goats,
Conor Oberst...
Anything I suppose!
I still kick myself for missing out on the remaindered 1st Editions of his works years ago before he became popular.
BOOK - Black Sabbath's Master of Reality: 33 1/3 - John Darnielle
Thank you, largehearted boy!
also, i am kind to all woodland creatures, and that must be worth something.
CDs: anything by The Fall.
Been wanting to check out both for a while now, but in both cases it's hard to know where to start!
I would love to win a mix of books and albums that included Absalom, Absalom by William Faulkner.
Chip Kidds new Bat-Manga is something I'd thrill to own.
Really though anything would be gravy.
Thanks!
Thanks

Books: anything and everything you have. Particularly pretentious hipster drivel. I love that.
Book: The most recent Chuck Klostermann or any Sci-Fi or Fantasy.
Book: Just ordered "Infinite Jest" so I can participate in Infinite Summer, so maybe something else from DFW, like "A Supposedly Fun Thing That I'll Never Do Again."
Thanks for the chance to win

As for the books, any of them really.. but I am particularly intrigued by Last Night in Montreal.
Great contest!
Thanks
I was hoping perhaps some jazz musicians for your CDs. Maybe some Diana Krall?
Maybe you have some books by Neil Gaiman? He's all I've read this past year :o So I'm hoping to get into other authors as well.
Best of luck to the winner!

Thank you, largehearted boy!
Bukowski book also.
We run the gamut in books from fantasy (both of my teens LOVE), to classics (think Jane Austen), nonfiction, to mysteries.
Our musical tastes frun from country (my hubby), to rap/hard rock (teenage son), to teen angst & classical (daughter) to easy listening and oldies (that would be moi!!)
Book: "The Raw Shark Texts" by Steven Hall, which you so awesomely got his playlist for. Then I could finally give someone a copy without feeling separation anxiety over losing my own!

Of the many books I've read in my lifetime, I've never read anything by David Foster Wallace, and since his unfortunate passing, have wanted to delve into his works. So, I guess a copy of 'Infinite Jest' would be the perfect place to start.
Cheers.
books: border trilory (c.mccarthy) is on my to-do list, as is anything klosterman or DFW, as my friends call him. but i have weak wrists, so infinite jest might be difficult
big money no whammies!
I would be be happy to send you some bagels and lox!
(ok, lame, but I'm trying to be Suess-like)
I'm a new reader, a new twitterer, and I think we may live in the same city. I'd hope for something I've never seen or heard before that has some sort of redeeming quality. Base, but true.
Music ... maybe the new Jeffrey Lewis CD. I saw him live before the new CD came out, and now I'm saving my pennies so I can buy it.
As for the book, I haven't read Man in the Dark by Paul Auster yet. If you you have a copy hanging around, I'd be glad to take it off your hands!
Whatever is in there, thanks!
As for books, a copy of The Little Friend by Donna Tartt would also be greatly appreciated. Or any Murakami on offer...I shamefully don't yet own any of his work myself (I've instead been profiting from my brother's almost complete collection, which has now unfortunately moved away with him!).
Thanks
by Walter Mosley, Toni Morrison, Terry McMillian or Agatha Christie I love
reading so what ever books are in the package would be great summer reading.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Book: Gotta Have Wa- you recommended it and my library has never had it.
Book: American Pastoral - Philip Roth...one of my favorite writers. This is one that I haven't got around to yet, and having it sent along would get me into it.
Also, I would love anything by wilco or okkervil river or beulah or okkervil river (or similar bands) to be included!
More than a book or CD, I would love to listen to classic shows of some of my favorite free-form college/WFMU DJ's of years gone by. Now I understand why folks listen to old radio shows of "The shadow" etc.
I love the site (specifically the links to articles elsewhere).
Paring down ones possessions ... at age 50 I seem to have moved from accumulation and "want" to "that's enough" and moving towards "simplify". And yet sometimes still that "hole" in ones soul that is always looking for the next "fix".

When it comes to books, I like paranormal reads best but will read a little of everything. Thanks for entering me in your contest.
I want to commune with other lonely souls, William Trevor or Jean Stafford's short stories would be fabulous for this.
CDs? Anything new, and good. Preferrably something that will break my mind open, like a coconut.
or
When You are Engulfed in Flames by David Sedaris (book)
though its not released until June 23, so i dont know if it counts, but i am looking forward to reading it!
