Hi! I really glad you enjoyed the Rudy Wurlitzer. You know he penned the screenplay to Two Lane Blacktop and Walker. Great Films and some good reads. Anyway! Favorite Book is Underworld By Don Delillo. A Classic! Thanks Matt!

You had me at "dysfunctional family tale", as that could be the story of my life. I'm always interested in family dynamics and it was a chance reading of "The World According to Garp" some 30-odd years ago (Damn... Has it been THAT long?) which steered me away from a hardcore sci-fi habit and into the world of adult fiction... and don't crucify me, Asimov fans. I still love science-fiction and highly recommend Orson Scott Card.
Anyway... John Irving is my favorite author, "Garp" my favorite novel and Tropper's book sounds like a wimmer to me.

My favorite book was Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salmon Rushdie. I was just delighted by it. Though, this is being quickly replaced [as I am currently reading it] by DFW's Broom of the System.

Both of these seem like really cool reads. Thanks for the chance to win them!

It's difficult to choose just one favorite novel! In a pinch, I'd say The Heart is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers. The scene where Mick reacts to music while crouched outside, listening to her neighbor's radio is one of the most emotionally honest and memorable scenes from anything I've ever read.

Favorite novel--you must be kidding! I read 100+ books a year, most of them novels, and it's like choosing a favorite child. But I will say that ONE of my favorites is Audrey Niffenegger's "The Time Traveler's Wife," and I'm scared to death to see what the money has done to it.
